It is WRONG...just wrongJune 17, 2008 12:37 am
Some of you may have seen this on my Blog or on a thread I put on the NBA Boards. I haven't checked either at the moment and thought I'd post it here for logical posters to read... Whether you are a Basketball fan or not, Im sure everyone can understand the principle of this...
The Cavaliers aren't going to let Zydrunas Ilgauskas play for Lithuania in the Olympics. He is 33, they say it is because of his high injury risk. He saw it as his last chance to play for his country, Lithuaina would've had a good chance for a medal if they had Ilgauskas. Im sorry, but how can Cleveland control whther he plays for his country or not. Im sure there is a logical explaination, and Im sure I have read in the article. But it is wrong. It is wrong. They shouldn't have control. If Ilgauskas makes himself available, it is then Lithuaina's choice whether to select him or not. Why should his club have control of his availability for his country. The Cavaliers should just let him play. If Im in Z's shoes Im saying, you let me play or I don't my contract bought out immediately, Im just not playing for your team. The Cavaliers orginization, I dont know whether it is just me personally, but I am disgusted by what they are doing. Even if they do have legal and contractual rights to stop him playing fo rhis country, they shouldn't use them. I understand where they are coming from, but they can't do that. Imagine, in Rugby Union, if Auckland Blues say we don't want our star player playing for the All Blacks, cos he might get injured and not be able to play for us. Sure, you don't want your players to get injured but this is just ridiculous. I wouldn't want my player from my club injured either, but it's a matter of priniciple. It is his choice and his countrys choice whether he plays for Lithuaina or not. Sorry If I have wrote a lot but this actually got me angry, I dont like this...at all. Thoughts? Why does Rondo never cheer for his teammates?June 16, 2008 4:36 pm
I have watched Celtics throughout the year, both regular season and playoffs, and I saw Rajon Rondo improved to the point where most of the neysayers stopped criticism. He is young and uncommon player in this league and seems to have a bright future. It might not be the perfect time to say that, as Lakers are using him as a Ben Wallace of a sort in order to defend other Celtics with great success, so this might turn into a discussion about Rondo's basketball qualities, and that isn't my intent. However, I had to say it here and now, because somebody might think that I have no respect for the player and that I'm just trying to find new ways to slam him. That is not the case here. With all the good moments that have happened to the Celtics in previous 8 months, I'm sure that I have missed his joy and true happiness for his teammates, that is I'm sure it happened at least once. But I can't recall it. When Rondo plays badly, he never cheers for his teammates. He sits with the sour face on the bench, doesn't talk to anyone. Ok, there's the mandatory handslap during timeouts. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the camera never catches him at the right time. Maybe he is a good teammate, but a quiet and shy person. Anyway, it is sad to see him on the bench looking like his team is losing by 20 and have Memphis written on their j's. Not all the guys can be Turiaf-like, I realize that. It's just... somebody should really explain this kid that this is a team sport off the court as well. Nobody will ask him to be the leader or the chief yet, he is a sophomore of course. Yet, would it be that hard to enjoy and support teammates good moves and game parts? Furthermore, it is possible that the bad morale influences his game. If you overthink the situation while spending time on the bench and refuse playing by the instincts, you're not gonna improve in that game. Also, I always felt that cheering for my team keeps me in the flow of the game, making me more ready to come back on the floor. Category: NBA |
